Forte Fixtures is currently seeking a team orientated CNC Programmer / Material Optimization Specialist to join our team.
CNC Programming
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, specifications, and work orders.
- Generate tool paths using CAD/CAM software.
- Perform program testing, verification, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain CNC program libraries and revision controls.
- Support machine operators with program-related issues.
Material Optimization
- Create optimized nesting layouts to maximize material yield.
- Analyze material consumption and identify opportunities to reduce waste.
- Develop cutting strategies that improve productivity and reduce scrap.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to material utilization.
- Collaborate with purchasing and production teams to improve inventory efficiency.
- Recommend process improvements to increase material recovery and reduce costs.
Education
- Diploma or Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, CNC Programming, or related field.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- 3–5 years of CNC programming experience in a wood working manufacturing environment.
- Experience with material nesting and optimization software.
- Experience reading technical drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as:
- AutoCAD
- Inventor
- B Solid
- Biesse Works
- Understanding of CNC machine setup and operation
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills

Responsibilities:
- Assist the Plant Manager with the overall day-to-day operation of the manufacturing facility
- Coordinate and monitor production activities across all departments, including CNC, Cutting, Edgebanding, Assembly, Finishing, Quality Control and Shipping
- Support the Plant Manager in planning production schedules and allocating labour and resources to meet project deadlines
- Monitor production progress and proactively identify and address delays, bottlenecks and other issues
- Ensure production priorities are clearly communicated to supervisors and production staff
- Work closely with Project Management, Engineering, Purchasing and Shipping to coordinate production requirements
- Monitor material availability and communicate shortages or potential issues that may impact production schedules
- Assist with ensuring finished products meet Forte Fixtures’ quality standards and customer specifications
- Support the implementation and maintenance of efficient production processes and workflows
- Monitor employee productivity, attendance and performance and provide support to supervisors and the Plant Manager as required
- Assist with training, onboarding and development of production employees
- Promote a positive, respectful and team-oriented workplace
- Ensure employees follow company policies, procedures and production standards
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized and efficient production facility
- Support health and safety initiatives and ensure safe work practices are followed throughout the plant
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, increased efficiency and waste reduction
- Assist with troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions
- Monitor equipment and machinery requirements and communicate maintenance needs to the Plant Manager
- Assist with inventory control and ensuring materials and finished goods are properly organized and accounted for
- Support shipping and receiving activities as required
- Act as the Plant Manager’s designate when required
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, millwork, woodworking or production environment
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of millwork manufacturing and production processes is an asset
- Excellent organizational, planning and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with production employees, supervisors, Project Managers, Purchasing, Engineering and senior management
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good computer skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
- Ability to read and understand production drawings and specifications is an asset
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to lead by example and maintain a professional and positive work environment
- Flexible and willing to assist wherever required to ensure production goals are achieved
- Must have reliable transportation

Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple custom millwork and store fixture projects from project award through to final installation and closeout
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, procurement plans and production timelines
- Review project requirements, drawings, specifications and customer expectations to identify project requirements and potential issues
- Coordinate closely with Design, Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Finishing, Shipping and Installation teams
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve scheduling, production, material and installation issues
- Ensure projects remain on schedule and within approved budgets
- Identify required materials, hardware, components and subcontracted services; issue and monitor purchase orders and receiving dates
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure materials and services are delivered when required
- Review and manage project changes, revisions, RFIs, deficiencies and change orders
- Communicate regularly with clients, general contractors, architects, engineers, vendors and subcontractors
- Lead project meetings and provide clear project updates, action items and follow-up
- Liaise with site personnel, clients, trades, shippers and installation teams to ensure successful execution of the project
- Monitor finished goods and material inventory levels and coordinate requirements with Purchasing and Production
- Ensure project documentation, drawings, approvals and correspondence are accurate and up to date
- Anticipate project risks and develop solutions to minimize delays and additional costs
- Ensure all project deliverables meet Forte Fixtures’ quality standards and customer expectations
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to improving project management processes
- Mentor and support Project Managers and Project Coordinators as required
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of project management experience, preferably within the custom millwork, architectural millwork, store fixture or construction industry
- Strong understanding of millwork manufacturing, production processes, materials and installation
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, planning and time-management skills
- Excellent computer skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
- Strong financial and budget management skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, shop drawings and project specifications
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to build positive working relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors and internal teams
- Highly organized, proactive and accountable, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- Professional and positive demeanour with a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction
- Experience managing commercial construction or retail rollout projects is an asset
- Must have reliable transportation
